Katharina Fritzenwallner
Katharina (Kathi) arrived in Canada from Germany in December 2009.
She is travelling and working in our beautiful country for the next year.
Kathi loves the mountains, nature and meeting interesting people and is looking forward to her season with Great Northern.
Katrin Slanina, originally from Germany, graduated from secondary school in 2009 and sensed the irresistible wish to leave all her known surrounding to experience a unique adventure far far away from home. She came to Canada in September – and fell in love immediately. After enjoying the beautiful town of Vancouver and the dry south of Okanagon Valley she will now discover and admire the impressive landscape of the Rocky Mountains.
As Katrin is addicted to fresh air, the feeling of sunshine on her skin and the wind blowing in her hair she tries to spend as much time outside as possible. If it’s with boots and backpack in the mountains, on the horse back encircled by a forest, attached to kayak and paddle on the river, on cross country skis in the white silence of a fjeld or just with a good book under a tree is only dictated by the season.
It’s her first year at the Great Northern Snowcat Skiing lodge and she is excited to start - because for her there is no better place to spend the Canadian winter than right in the middle of the Rocky Mountains!
Rodeo, our beloved Powder Hound, was Director of Pet Relations for over 14 years. Rodeo made the lodge a warm and friendly place to so many staff and guests over the years, and will be sorely missed. Read our commemorative poem >>
Ducati is our resident feline — friendly when in the mood… consider yourself warned!!!
For those non-cat people amongst us (we know who you are), Ducati is very much an outdoor cat and spends most of her time in the warmth of the ski tuning shop.
“I had a wonderful time, ALL the guides and staff were very pleasant and helpful, making the stay great
fun… The meals were truly outstanding and the service as well. Thank you for a superior skiing experience.”
