Chelsea Abbey was born and raised in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. Having spent most of the last 8 years in Thailand, Chelsea returned home and nestled her way into the heart of the Selkirk Mountains and decided to call Great Northern home for the 2010-2011 ski season. Returning for her second year she is excited at the idea of living another few months in the beauty and pristine, “ The Humbling Silence” of the Selkirk Mountain range.
Chelsea enjoys spending the rest of the year traveling (mostly in Thailand), studying to be a better ESL Teacher, embracing and learning the joys of yoga/meditation and exercising. When she is back at home spending time with family and friends, camping, hiking and cooking are always her number one priorities.
I look forward to spending time with Great Northern and guest for the 2011-2012 season

Andrea Aesie is no stranger to adventure. She had been called a tom boy and an adrenaline junkie for as long as she could remember. At 17 Andrea left her family acreage outside of Calgary, Alberta and moved to Mexico. After 2 years of studying the ocean and working as a Scuba Dive Instructor she landed a job on a popular reality T.V show called "Survivor" as the underwater communications diver in the Marine department, building underwater T.V sets, chartering producer day boats (driving, planning, guiding) and overall safety of our reality stars as the set lifeguard (filmed in and around remote tropical islands).
In 2005, Andrea, spent 4 years in Calgary running her father's home building company, after he retired. That is when she truly fell in love with the Canadian Rockies. Everything from dirt biking, snowboarding, sleeping in snow caves, week -long winter treks from hut to hut and even jumping off a couple mountains in a hang glider.
Andrea has a true passion for nature and knows she will feel right at home at Great Northern.
Melissa Jasper grew up outside of Williams Lake B.C. in the small community of Riske Creek, spending her youth at rodeos and farms. After completing high school and one year of entry level courses at Thompson River University in Williams Lake, Melissa decided it was time for a change and moved to Nelson, BC. In her spare time she enjoys camping, hiking, Hula Hooping, preferably with an LED hoop that lights up and of course hitting those fresh lines in the winter. As well, she enjoys free spirited nature walks whenever possible. Melissa is excited to experience her first season with Great Northern.

Rodeo, our beloved Powder Hound, was Director of Pet Relations for over 14 years. Rodeo made the lodge a warm and friendly place to so many staff and guests over the years, and will be sorely missed. Read our commemorative poem >>
Ducati is our resident feline — friendly when in the mood… consider yourself warned!!!
For those non-cat people amongst us (we know who you are), Ducati is very much an outdoor cat and spends most of her time in the warmth of the ski tuning shop.
“I had a wonderful time, ALL the guides and staff were very pleasant and helpful, making the stay great
fun… The meals were truly outstanding and the service as well. Thank you for a superior skiing experience.”
