Brent McCorquodale owner and operator of Great Northern Snowcat Skiing, has been leading visitors through the Selkirk Mountains since the company's inception in 1979. His extensive background of mountain experience, deep powder ski instruction, and understanding of weather and snow conditions comes from many years of working and playing in these mountains and ensures the best possible wilderness skiing experience for our guests. It has been said that his humour is "as dry as the legendary Selkirk powder", but that is just folklore...... "Brent McCorquodale----was a hot young skier from Western Canada who had made his reputation on the hills around Banff. He was looking for something to do - "I'd hid out in school for as long as I could," he says.---Now 27 years later, Mr. McCorquodale's resort is recognized by powder hounds as one of the finest." Back again for year number four, Dan Nelson just can’t seem to get enough of this place. Some habits die hard, and chasing deep, dry B.C. powder is one Dan picked up fifteen years ago. He can’t seem to shake it, but that’s all good --- the bottomless snow that fills his “office” helps to reinforce the comforting delusion that, yes, years of “semi-retirement” and hundred-day ski seasons really can be called job training. While somewhere along the way he’s lost familiar ski-bum traits like living in vans, and the fear of shaving, his passion for deep snow and people to ski it with has him excited as ever to show you around all his favorite powder stashes. In the off-season, a recent but temporary return to the evil known as “the city” has Dan grabbing a mountain bike to run for the hills every chance he gets, with girlfriend Lindsay and a loose collection of bad influences known as riding buddies. In addition to certification and training in ski guiding, advanced first aid, mountain rescue, and ski instruction, Dan is Level 2 certified by the Canadian Avalanche Association, and is an Active Member of the CAA. The other half of our lead guiding team, you’ll find him on the mountain every day until the snow’s gone. |
